Comic books originally were created to spark the imagination of children all over the world. However with modern-day comics, like Anime, comic books are becoming more for the adult age group rather than younger children. So, with this information being presented, what are the best comics for the younger audience these days?
1.) The Legion of Super-Heroes in the 31st Century -
After seeing a rise in popularity from its television show, DC comics finally released a comic book to accompany the already successful TV show. The Legion of Super-Heroes incorporates some old DC comics like Superman into it's storyline. In the story, Superman has been recruited to come to the future to stop the Fatal Five from destroying Metropolis! In this Utopian society, Super-Heroes have teamed to help save the universe from its many dangerous threats. With its intense action and mild violence still suitable for kids, nearly all kids will like Legion of Super-Heroes in the 31st Century.
2.) Marvel Adventures: The Avengers -
Marvel comics are one of the leading producers of kid-rated comic books and Marvel Adventures proves why. With intense action, mild violence, and intriguing dialogue among other things, this comic book is not only great for kids but fun for the adult audience as well. Although a good overall comic, Marvel Adventures is most recognized for its classic Issue #12.
Here my opinion will change from most websites. Although new comics are fun, as a younger writer I know that younger kids still do like the classics.
3.) Sonic the Hedgehog -
Sonic the Hedgehog. You could say that to a 30 year-old man and he'd know exactly what you were talking about! That's because it's been around for over 10 years. It has not only a comic book series, but a television and game series as well. Sonic has maintained popularity for many years, proving it has a truly unique and entertaining storyline. Sonic is based on a story about a blue hedgehog, of course, that keeps the land of Moebius safe from the evil and dangerous Dr. Robototnik with the help of his friends Knuckles the Echidna and Tails the fox. Also, there is over 150 comics so your child is sure to never run out of Sonic adventure! Lastly, Sonic brings back what a lot of comics lack today - humor.
4.) Archie Comics -
For number four we once again go back to the "old-school" comics. In fact, Archie comics are even older than Sonic the Hedgehog - A lot older! Actually, Archie comics were first created back in 1941. Archie Comics are basically about Archie, Betty, Jughead, Veronica and the rest of their high school friends. These are very light-hearty comedy based comics which include Archie, Jughead, and Sabrina the Teenage Witch among others. Content includes little violence, romantic situations and humor
5.) Disney Comics -
You simply cannot have a list of children's comics without including the foundation of it all - Disney Comics. Donald Duck, Goofey, Mickey Mouse and Uncle Scrooge just to name of few of many, many Disney comics that have been favorites of children for years. If your child is a first-time comic reader, this is a must have comic book for the new readers of comics.
These are my top 5 comic books for young children to read. However, if your a parent out there and have already tried these comics, or just need more suggestions, you can try the following comics: Spiderman loves Mary Jane, Franklin Richards, Justice League Unlimited, and Owly just to name a few. So, if your a parent or just a kid wanting some comics, these are what I recommend for you.
