How to make new friends in college

Learning how to make new friends in college requires a positive attitude, a self-esteem that is intact, personality, and the ability to carry yourself with confidence. In other words, do not try to become someone that you are not, or change who you are in order to try and fit in with a certain group of people.

Stay true to who you are, and make sure that when you wake up in the morning, you recognize the person staring at you from inside the mirror. Love the skin you're in at all times.

Just be yourself. Plain and simple. Just be yourself. If you attempt to be somebody else, or play up a different persona, people will see right through this. If you are who you are, people will respect that, and this will help you to make some new friends in college.

You also have to put yourself out there, and you need to doff any shyness that may exude from your every pore.

Making new friends in college can be time-consuming unless you are willing to get out there and introduce yourself around campus. Nobody will come and knock on your door looking for friendship, so actively pursue any and all of your interests, and reach out to those that share similar goals and hobbies as yourself.

The biggest obstacle facing many high school graduates making the foray into college is trying to combat loneliness and make new friends. This poses a problem for many people that tend toward the shy side, but with a little bit of effort, making new friends in college can be rather simple.

It is far more difficult to make new friends in college if you leave the comfort of your hometown, but is still feasible. In high school, you already had a large base of friends from elementary school, so it was not as difficult. Now, classes are not quite the same, and it is important to branch out and try to make some new friends.

College can be the most wonderful experience for a young person, or even for a mature student returning to school, but making new friends is not always a simple task. Making new friends in college is done easily enough, provided you have the proper mindset and social skills required.

It does not matter if you are at a local college, or if you have traveled to the far reaches of the country to attend college classes, the fundamentals are still the same. One of the biggest keys is to be able to make a positive first impression.
