The world would be a better place without.... people.
Like it or not, but humans are the one thing the planet, and all its life forms, would be better off without. Not only have people caused the extinction of many kinds of animals, large and small, but we continue to do so knowingly. Additionally we have made our population so large that we overrun the natural habitats of other animals, plants, and destroy total eco-systems in the process.
A growing human population forces a need for more housing, more food, and more toilet paper for our bums. Marsh lands are filled, forests are cleared, farms become suburbs. Everyone a consumer, raping the land from birth for diapers, clothing, and food. Putting back only enough to create masses of landfills.
An entire sea was even destroyed as water was diverted to grow crops. Traffic kills innocent animals who only want to pursue their natural migration routes for food or breeding. Tall buildings kill whole flocks of birds every night as they fly through cities following an ancient need to migrate.
Pollution would not exist if it were not for humans. Populations of other animals would be allowed to control themselves. Currently they are mostly regulated by people, killing seals so the seals do not eat too much fish, and so forth. Confined to feed lots with no hope of a pleasant life. We breed them to create new animals, ones we can use for our own purposes.
Most other animals, besides humans, live in relative harmony with their surroundings. A few alter them for their own purposes but never to the point of destroying their own habitat in the way humans have. Not only have we made the world very unpleasant for most other creatures, but we have also caused so much harm to the planet we are suffering too. Asthma and childhood leukemias are on the rise, a likely result of our polluting the air.
Yet we seem to do nothing, very few nations have listened to the warning put out by the United Nations years ago that baring Nuclear threat, the number one threat to continued human existence is our our failure to contain our population growth. They put the sustainable level of population at 5 Billion. We exceed it today at over 6.7 Billion and most people fail to recognize that there are problems resulting from our swelling numbers.
If humans were to vanish the forests would take over our cities, buildings would fall and over time things would return to a more natural state. Boundaries would no longer prevent the natural migration routes of many animals. Wild populations would flourish and balance themselves.
Humans assume they are the most important thing in the world, however the world as a whole would be very happy without us.
