Poetry: The good old days

by Karen Gilbert

Created on: August 02, 2009

Longing for the Good Ol' Days

Born in a time

When swearing was a crime

When a dime was a dime

Not a bag, what's a line?

What's My Line?

TV

Rated G

Who scores?

Boy or girl?

We watched Milton Berle

Who is he?

Is he dead?

Talked Pinko, Commie, Red

Who was watching?

It was "Big Brother"

When a "mother" was a Mother

When we wrapped

It was boxes

Girls were foxes

Not these songs

"Raps" which are long

Words with "F"

End in "CK"

Hear it everyday

Make it go away

I'm no goody, goody

I'm no Mrs. Brady

And by now you know

I'm not Slim Shady

I'm a mother

A 50's lady

Ice- T is a drink

I wrap with clear or pink

Could use green

Once used blue

Any shade will do

I'm the real "Rapper"

Not Marshall Mather

I'm the real Rapper

Saran Wrapper!
