Poetry: Suicidal thoughts

by Sarah Barendse

Created on: August 02, 2009

A man hangs from a ledge

20 stories from death

A finger slips

20 stories from death

His muscles begin to tremble

20 stories from death

Fear and physical strain wash over him

20 stories from death

People gather below, yet no one offers help

20 stories from death

Another finger slips

20 stories from death

DEAR GOD HELP! cries the man

The people gasp, still offering nothing

20 stories from death

It seems like time has stopped

20 stories from death

He struggles to gain control

20 stories from death

His arms defy him, and he falls to his death - 20 stories.

The crowd dispurses, shaking their heads
