Poetry: Help

by Sarah Barendse

Created on: August 02, 2009

Tears flood my eyes

HELP! HELP! Desperate screams escape my tiny lips

I cling fearfully to my singed teddy bear

Heat and smoke fill my lungs as a beam falls behind me

catching mother's fine lace curtains on fire

MOMMY! I am crying & coughing hysterically now

MOMMY! Why won't you help me!?

I'm trapped in a ring of fire, no escape

Sobbing, I fall

Comforted only by the thought that teddy will be with me in Heaven
