Any shark a human comes in contact with can be considered a dangerous shark. There are four species of sharks that have earned a bad reputation as man eaters, but only one of them has been proven (by scientific research and data) to be considered a real threat to humans and that is the Bull shark.
Bull Shark
The Bull shark (Carcharhinus leucas) is also known as the River shark. This shark posses the most danger for humans because it lives in both fresh and salt water, one certainly doesn't expect to be attacked by a shark in while swimming in a lake!
In addition to the element of surprise of finding the bull shark in lakes and rivers it is commonly found in shallow waters in the ocean. This shark is the most aggressive sharks in the world and responsible for more human shark attacks than any other species of sharks.
Bull sharks are territorial even though they travel great distances, wherever they are at any given time is there territory. They are aggressive and easily agitated.
A simple splashing in the water near them will easily agitate the bull shark and can send them into an attack mode. First like most shark species they bump and bite the difference with the bump and bite from a bull shark is that they are not sampling a potential meal, but they are showing their annoyance.
The bull shark by far is the most dangerous shark in the world, despite its relatively small size compared to the other shark species it has a mean streak that most sharks do not posses.
Oceanic Whitetip shark
The Oceanic Whitetip shark (Carcharinus longimanus) is the most dangerous shark for scuba divers. This shark species inhabits the deep depths of the ocean and can be found near the coral reefs, caves and sunken ships that attract scuba divers.
It is a medium size shark measuring between 11 and 14 feet in length while not as large as the most feared shark the Great white it is responsible for several attacks and deaths each year. When a scuba diver or boater is reported missing and never recovered it is the oceanic whitetip shark that usually gets the credit for their disappearance. In the popular movie Open Waters about the couple accidentally left behind after a scuba diving expedition it was the oceanic whitetip shark that the viewers see circling the stranded couple.
The Great White
The great white shark is the most feared shark in the world. Thanks to the movie Jaws it might surprise you to know that the great white is responsible for the least amount of attacks and deaths per year
