Comp card makeup: foundation, lashes, concealer
It's another step and story getting you ready for your comp card/ zed card photo shoot. We have talked about hair and now it is time to talk about makeup.
First things first: your skin!
The best looking makeup comes when applied on great skin. My recommendation is 48 hours before a shoot, no caffeine, no smoking, no alcohol, and no salt!
Apply a clay mask to absorb excess oils, and use a fine grit exfoliate. I recently discovered the Biore Skin Preservation exfoliator and I highly recommend it. The grit is fine, there is light sudsy foam, and it washes clean while smelling green clean also. Use a deep moisturizer and eye crme, if you are over 20, use an anti-aging serum also. Here's a recap of your skin care steps:
1. Wash
2. Mask
3. Exfoliate
4. Tone
5. *Serum
6. Moisturize: eyes and crme (Remember to pull down through the neck area)
7. The secret weapon: steam
If you have an at home facial sauna, use it. If you don't, use a pan of water on the stove. Heat it to boiling point, turn off the heat, and stand over the pan with a towel over your head like a tent to hold the steam in a bit. 20 minutes would be great, but anything will help make a dramatic improvement in your skin.
These simple skin care steps will make a night and day difference in how your makeup applies and what the skin looks like in the photos. Remember, your comp card is your modeling business card so make it good!
I would plan your makeup for the photo shoot. If there is a hired artist on set, you will arrive with clean, well prepped and moisturized skin. Always carry your own set of false lashes and glue as well as mascara. I suggest you carry your own because the artist may or may not adhere to strict hygiene principles. Either way, you don't want to find out by have pink eye and a prescription.
Remember, it's your shoot. I suggest you have a look book of what you want to see on yourself makeup wise and speak up to the artist about it. If you do your own makeup, the goal is to start with a clean, fresh simple makeup and work your way to dramatic smoky eyes.
If you do not own Kevyn Aucoin's book Making Faces check it out from your library or buy one because it has one of the best step by step demonstrations of applying two shades of foundation and concealer: one light and one dark to contour your face and get the best foundation effect.
I suggest you get crme concealers in a pot and
