The aftermath of liposuction

I felt compelled to write under this title the AFTERMATH of liposuction; it sounded so foreboding, warning, and negative! My experience has been anything but that. I underwent liposuction surgery on my upper and lower abdominals, hips, flanks, and lower back on July 7th, 2009. I feel like my story is a very important one to share, as when I was considering this, I couldnt find many real patient testimonials, and certainly not too many that actually laid it all out there. So, here goes! I had considered this for a long time but knew it would be expensive and surgery, the very word scared me. I finally somehow got it in my head that now was the time. I found a Doctor that was reputable and certified and looked at his website. What impressed me the most were the before and after pictures. Some of them were amazing to say the least.

I went in for the initial consultation which they charge you $100 for the Doctor's time and if you choose to proceed they apply it towards your costs, if you don't they let you use it as a credit in the spa. Sitting down and talking with him I felt very connected and confident in his abilities and the reality of what I could expect versus an idealized concept in my head. He did a physical examination, and though I was just there for my upper and lower abs, he pointed out that if I did just the abdominals, yes it would alleviate that being my problem area, but that I may look odd in that I did not have a small waist or hips. Once he explained that too me it made total sense to do all of the areas I listed above (essentially my entire middle from under bust to hips). This was the more expensive option but I also knew this was a one time thing for me. I was not planning on having to recover more than once and what I wanted done and the effect I wanted to achieve needed to be done in one fowl swoop. So I forked over the $9,000. Yes folks, I said $9,000. You get what you pay for, and surgery is not something you should go with the lowest bidder on.

My Dr. is well known, well respected, has excellent references, and his patients love him. He operates IN a hospital setting not his office so if any complications arise you are in the best possible hands. They prescribed for me a few weeks before hand Xanex for anxiety. I really only took them a few days before because I was nervous. They really helped. The night before I took 2 and went to sleep.

My surgery was at 7:30 am so there wasn't much time to be anxious. I got to the center, they
