Don't pity me with sidelong glance,
Don't pity me with looks askance,
Don't pity my rags and bundled home,
Don't pity my life with nought to own,
Don't shake your head as you hurry past,
Don't look away; don't stare aghast,
Don't wish that I could join anew,
Don't wish that I could be like you,
Don't think I want your burdened life,
Don't think I yearn for stress and strife,
You search for coins ; a mobile pressed to ear,
I look at you; I see your fear,
Do you think envy is what you see?
Don't second guess; don't pity me.

I was weak and
Don't pity me because my hair is gray:

roads were rocky and hills hard to climb,

even though I die alone,
for I have lived a full life,
never stooping to pick up
after
Don't pity me all you people,
the very ones who shot me down;
making sure when I was happy,
somehow you caused a frown.
Don't
I am an old man, whithered and bent
My youth and vigor are all spent
You may think it's sad, don't
