Many atrocities occur in the world today. To combat these wrong doings, we have something called the justice system. If a person is caught committing an act that would be considered illegal, he will be punished accordingly. For example, if you sold lemonade that had chemicals in it and your customers died, you would be punished. You could have told every customer that drinking the lemonade would be lethal and you would be guilty of a crime. Why then should tobacco companies get away with selling products that kill? The most common product sold by tobacco companies is cigarettes. Tobacco products put a drain on our health care system, cause suffering, are highly addictive, and disrupt productivity.

Tobacco related illness is draining our health care systems resources. There are significant dollars going towards keeping long-term smokers alive and running ad campaigns to increase public awareness of the dangers that are associated with smoking tobacco. Although tobacco companies bring in enormous amounts of money, there is still a problem with money in the health care system. Money that needs to go towards treatment and research for illnesses and diseases that nobody has any control over, such as leukemia or multiple sclerosis. Surgery costs money because you have to pay for everybody involved in executing the surgery as well as other costs. Not only does surgery cost money, but it also requires people that are highly trained. These people are spending there time trying to save the lives of people that have caused great health problems by smoking tobacco. Many doctors are now refusing to see patients that smoke because they could be spending their time on people that do not have the option to prevent their current health status. Tobacco related illnesses needs treatment, but this is often an uphill battle and even if you help them, they most likely will continue smoking.

Tobacco related illness causes suffering and death. Every year there are large numbers of people diagnosed with tobacco related illnesses and die. The most common tobacco related illness is lung cancer. Many people diagnosed with a tobacco related illness will eventually die from the illness. People with cancer do not die in the same way somebody would die if they were decapitated. The process of death from cancer is a long and hard fought battle. The individual must live out every day knowing that they are eventually going to die. Everybody knows that he or she is eventually going to die, but
