The purpose of God's making his Word flesh and having him undergo the crucifixion as the Sacrificial Lamb to atone for the sins of men can be seen in the end result of all of this activity which is in Revelation 5:9 & 10 where the Lamb is lauded by the 24 elders for having made his followers a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.
As members of the priesthood of which the Son is the High Priest, what would his followers be required to do?
In Ephesians 6:11-18 they are instructed to wear the full armour of God;[1] which is the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, feet shod in preparation of the gospel of peace, the helmet of salvation, the shield of faith, the sword of the Spirit and prayer.
The reason for all of this armour is to withstand the wiles of the devil and the purpose of it all is to stand. You'd expect someone who is dressed in what is described as armour to fight but the instruction is only to stand. Why?
The reason is because it will take all of your might and main simply to stand against the deadly attacks of Satan. It will be enough just to hold your ground and to cling to your salvation. It is also a play on words, where the Saints will be required to stand and stand tall in a world where everyone else bows down to the Antichrist.
This in itself will be testimony to where you stand in your beliefs and it will make you an easily visible target. Just standing will take the strength that of all of the armour of God gives you as protection, as well as your own sheer guts and raw courage.
As Ephesians says, our battle is not against flesh and blood. Ultimately our battle is not against this world but against the spiritual realms of evil, which are in full and direct attack against us and our grasp on salvation and eternal life and this is the prize we must cling to.
Isaiah 8:20 in the Bible that says 'To the law and the testimony! Iif they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them'. This simple verse points to the beginning of the Bible and the end; where the Law is given in Exodus as the Ten Commandments and the Testimony of the Son, who is the Light of the world, is spoken of in Revelation 14:12 and 12:17. It says the saints are those who keep the Commandments (law) and have faith in, and the testimony of, the Son.
The saints will testify to the Son of God who says in Luke 12:8 that he will then also confess them before the angels of God. Also anyone who is ashamed of him he will be ashamed of them. Mark 8:38.
As the Bible states in conclusion in Ecclesiastes 12:13, the whole duty of man is to fear God and keep His Commandments. How much more then is this the duty and calling of all true believers.
