The Mile High Music Festival took place in Commerce City, Colorado and was a huge event that stretched from Saturday, July 18, 2009 to Sunday, the next day. It was a popular event that many people attended to see their favorite bands such as The Fray, a light rock band from Colorado with hit songs like "How to Save a Life" and "Over my Head". Other bands include Incubus, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and the relatively new band 3OH!3 (pronounced 3 oh 3) named after the area code that covers Boulder, Aurora, and the north metro area in Colorado.
The festival consisted of nearly 50 bands on two main stages. Over 90,000 music fanatics participated at the festival. For some bands this was an event to get publicity, and for some like The Red Hot Chili Peppers, this was just another average music event.
The tradition of the music festival started last year in 2008. It went from the 330 acre City Park to a 917 acre complex with nearly double the people from the previous year. This is a tradition that will continue for years to come, also increasing in popularity. It is estimated that 20,000 more people will be at the Mile High Music Festival next year.
This year at the festival the sponsors tried to get a better variety of music. Instead of just rock they got a small amount of electronica and dance music which is another reason more bands played this year. A new band is 3OH!3 that is a unique mix of electronica, rock, pop, light rap, and dance music. Many other local and guest bands similar to 3OH!3 played at the Mile High Music Festival.
After the huge event was all over, many bands went home famous, many went home recognized, and many went home no more known than they were before. The following day, on July 20, everything was taken down and put in storage for next year. Of course an event like this had to come with a large fee! The prices were nearly 115 dollars to come both Saturday and Sunday to see the enormous amount of musical groups playing in a variety from light rock to electronica, and even metal! It is not known where the next Mile High Music Festival will be yet, but the date will be around the same general time of year. Tickets for the music festival will go on sale around March and the info like where and when will be released even sooner. The Mile High Music Festival for 2010 has already started being planned.
