A man is sleeping, his alarm goes off at 5:30am. He shuts the alarm off and sits on the side of the bed. He sits there for a bit trying to gather the energy to make his first step. When he's able to he gets up and goes into the bathroom takes a shower and brushes his teeth. He then goes back into the bedroom to figure out what to wear and gets dressed. He goes into the kitchen to grab a bite to eat. While he's eating he's getting his coffee ready for the drive into work. He leaves with his breifcase in one hand and his coffee in the other. After a 45 minute drive he arrives at work. When he gets inside the building he goes directly to his desk and turns his computer on. The night before he had neglected to finish a project that needed to be completed by 9am that morning. As he's trying to finish his project, he accidently spills the rest of the coffee on his papers. One more thing he didn't need added to his list of things to do. As his phone is ringing non-stop he tries to clean up the mess. This was a normal day to him and it's now 7pm and he's just shutting off his computer. He'll make it home in time to go to bed and do it all again the next day. He thinks working all the time and not having any free time is the way to do it.
He doesn't realize that he missed the most beautiful glowing orange and pink sunrise. The quietness that the morning brings. The birds chirping. The squirrel's jumping from one tree to another. The vibriant blue sky with just a few white puffy clouds. The slight breeze that smelled of freshly cut grass. The different types of trees with different colored leaves ranging from red to green. All of the different types of flowers along the side of the road that were every color of the rainbow. The geese that were flying above his car in a perfect V. The great blue heron that landed into a stream to catch his morning breakfast. The beautiful red fox that ran across that he almost hit. The unbelievable glowing sunset as big as the earth. The hot air on his skin. Listening to the katydid's. The lightning bugs that were lighting up his entire backyard. The skunk that almost sprayed him when he got out of his car. The quietness that's not so quiet at night.
Maybe if he would stop and look around he would know that the best things in life are free. Free for everyone to enjoy and to enjoy whenever they want.
