Jean shorts and flip-flops,
Sunglasses and sunscreen
Tank tops and swimsuits
Painted nails and bleached hair.
Driving around until midnight,
Top pulled down on the highway
Feeling the cool air breeze by
Making a silent wish to the sky.
Jumping off the dock
Swimming nonstop around the clock
Boating the liquid waters of the lake
Thinking of someone more you could take.
Hot sun beating down
Laying back in the grass
Bright green with bright blue sky
Nothing more and you can fly.
Endless pleasant hours
So fast and hurried
But so, very slow and dreading
Gone by too fast, maybe for others too slow.
Yet that's only for you to know,
In your summer.
