Set out from town at dawn's first light.
Come to the fork in the road and take a right.
Walk through the woods and make your way
towards the sound of water, it'll take a day
to reach the bridge where you'll find a troll
with warty skin- he'll expect a toll.
He's looking for a bit of gold
but can be fooled, so I've been told.
Remember, trolls like shiny things
from bits of glass to diamond rings.
Press on through the forest but don't leave the path
If you do so then you risk the wrath
of the wolves that live in the forest, they're wild
and often on the lookout for a careless child.
In the garden, you'll find flowers of every color and hue
avoid the roses, and and the lilies too
but the daisies are friendly, and the butterflies tame
You can trust the Raven, but don't tell him your name
You will meet him at the garden wall
He will give you a locket you can use to call
a flock of owls to your side
and a great black eagle who'll give you a ride
across the Wailing Lake, to the castle great
past it's shining gates where you'll find your fate.
Make your way to the King's gold throne
He'll give you a grand quest that you alone
can complete. And a golden sheathed sword with a silver sheen
and a great white horse with eyes that gleam.
Towards the setting sun, you will ride off, tall
and proud in the saddle, but that is all
I can tell you of your journey. It's only begun
You will experience joy and have much fun
but also sadness, grief and tears
yet you will bravely face your fears
Remember, you're a hero on a noble quest
and you will always do your best.
