As we celebrate International Right to Know Day on Sept. 28, should access to information be considered a fundamental human right?

The International Right to Know Day is coming quickly upon us. Should access to information be a fundamental human right? Absolutely. However, this should truly depend on what kind of information we are seeking to obtain. Do we have a right to all of the information regarding troop movements and how they are being deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan and any other hot spot in the world? No, I do not think this is information that should be made readily available.

Do we have a right to know if UFOs and Extraterrestrials exist? Why not, it would be most interesting to finally know the truth. Do we have a right to know if there is something that can be detrimental to our own survival in the United States as well as abroad? Most definitely, we have the fundamental human right to know.

What kind of information will we be given on the International Right to Know Day in September? Probably what the government and what the United Nations want us to know. No more and definitely no less. Will the information that we get to receive on that day in September be available only on that day and then disappear into a black hole, thereafter? Sure, why not. This is the way that our government works and that is the way that the United Nations works.

Today, we have a crisis on our hands. It is known as the H1N1 Virus, otherwise known as the Swine Flu. We were told a couple of months ago when we first heard about the virus that it would not get so bad and that it would go into hibernation. It was possible, according to the CDC in Atlanta, that the virus would not hit pandemic levels.

Today, information is coming out that not all cases that are confirmed as H1N1 are being released out to the public. At the same time, we are now hearing that the Swine Flu cases have hit around one million alone in the United States. Wow! We are being told something that we need to know. We are also being told that people will be able to get the vaccine as early as October! Wow! Information overload, can we stand it?

This writer, once a member of a grassroots UFO organization called MUFON, wants to know whether or not we are alone in the universe. Are we? What information does the government have to confirm this? Since the late 1940s, it is possible that the United States government, as well as other governments around the world, have had the answer and that it is one that is positive.

Should the United States along with other governments of the world release the truth about ufo's and extraterrestrials? This writer believes that this is a yes and no answer. If there is irrefutable evidence of life elsewhere, this could possibly upset the religious beliefs of many. It could cause an outright panic. At the same time, who says that God did not create other life forms elsewhere? Did He not create the Heavens and the earth?

We certainly have a right to know some forms of information. If it is detrimental to release information that would subject our national defense in a way that would harm us and our allies, then we need to hold back. It is possible to receive a great deal of information on the internet and we will just have to take each day for what it is all worth. As the old saying goes, "No news is good news!"
