Even though we as a country, in an effort to practice our various freedoms, often act in ways that displease God, we still recognize that God is our standard of truth and decency. In every court testimony, we raise our hand to say we will testify to the truth and nothing but the truth "so help me God". Our money even says "in God we trust", which is in itself a statement that God is our source of security. Therefore, as long as we as a country proclaim that we are built on the principles of God, gay marriage should never be recognized. It is in direct violation of God's principles. We can't believe in God and not believe in his word. If a chapter is devoted to him destroying a city due to homosexuality, and numerous scriptures speaking ill of sleeping with one's own sex, it seems inconceivable that one could logically come to a conclusion that such an act is accepted as a standard of decency by the God that we as a country say we trust. It may be unpopular to say, but the truth is the truth. The popular argument is that God is love, and he loves us all. He does, from the worst serial killer to the most hated figures in history. God loved them all, and gave them every opportunity to serve him and turn from their wicked ways while they had breath in their bodies to do so. He loved them as he does every one of us who are in and of ourselves no less prone to sin than the worst sinner, to the extent that he sent Jesus. Because God loves us, it does not mean that he has to uphold us in our sins. Every good parent loves their children, and want them to be happy. However, if the "happiness" involves a violation of their rules, the behavior is not supported. (At least not with positive "support") He loves for example the car thief, who may be a relatively nice guy with a family, etc. but the act of thievery is still wrong. He loves all prostitutes, and the act of prostitution in and of itself does not hurt the individuals involved if they are properly protected, and is after all the oldest profession. However, the act of prostitution is nevertheless wrong. God loves us enough to not allow us to just do what pleases us. He loves us enough to say "No" when our perspectives and delights violates his laws or causes us harm. Morality should not be determined by the personalities involved, but on its own merit of right or wrong. Should we as a country give credibility to a perverted action simply because the participants in that action have a good
