Why people cheat

Infidelity is one of the most prominent elements in killing a relationship. Though there are couples that have survived the wrath of a cheating spouse, their relationship has gone on to change one way or another. To pin point one particular reason as to why people cheat is so broad of an action that it is nearly impossible. People cheat for an array of reasons and the common factor is the over or under measurement of their self-worth.

In some cases, cheating happens because the infidel is unhappy with their current relationship and find it easier to cheat then to just let go. Relationships are as tricky and complex as mathematical equations; having to devote one's time into making a relationship succeed, is a task that not too many people are interested in tackling.

It may be asking too much for a person to be understanding and loving or even empathetic or compassionate to another person's feelings; some people that embark in committing themselves to relationships are more concerned with the sexual aspect of their relationships and not the emotional sector thus making them interested in another person which results in cheating.

A persons level of maturity also plays a big role in a person's decision to cheat. Someone that is both mature mentally as well as emotionally understands the ramification of their decisions. Someone that is immature will more than likely go down the path of thinking for the moment and fail to think twice about the outcome of their actions. Some people are dare devils and enjoy the thought of being caught cheating just for the overall rush.

The media also plays its part in people's decisions to cheat. With advertisements becoming more and more sexual everyday it becomes a little difficult for people to keep their eyes from wandering. Casual sex is more accepted than romance, hence the claim that chivalry is dead. Relationships, as appose to "sex-buddies", in this day and age are viewed as time consuming and a waste of time.

Committing to one person can be a difficult decision for most people and although the saying "once a cheater, always a cheater" reigns supreme, it is only a myth. As mentioned, cheating depends on the maturity of the person. If a person is caring of their significant others feelings, cheating would be an act avoided. With the right change of habits and the right state of mind, someone that has cheated in the past can make a conscious decision to avoid cheating in the future.
