Christian or Radical Liberal?
Do I smell a loaded question here trying to pigeon hole and trap me into one "us vs them" dichotomy of mutually exclusive camps at the two ends of a common pole?
What does it matter to the welfare of the Universe in general and USA in particular that one mortal by the name of Barack (Hussein) Obama is a Christian or a Radical Liberal, or for that matter, a Muslim, Jew, Buddhist, Taoist, Satanist or even an Atheist?
The office of the President of the USA is a citizens' freely and fairly (generally speaking) elected fixed termed political position whose sole function is to lead and run the electorates' nation according to their aggregate needs, wishes, aspirations and dreams.
The powers of the President (the Executive), although elected by the people are by no means absolute to the point of tyranny; but are judiciously balanced by the other checks and balances as enshrined in the Constitution through the adoption of the doctrine of the separation of powers via the Legislature and Judiciary.
The point as to whether President Barrack Obama has a religion or not is of no consequence in so far the Constitution is concerned because the Constitution of the USA is secular, with complete separation of State and Religion.
So long as he got into office by free and fair means through free and fair elections, it matters not who or what he, she or it is!
Nonetheless, just for the sake of argument, if I allow myself to indulge in some "judgemental adjucation" of Barrack Hussein Obama, I would venture to guess that he is neither Christian nor Radical Liberal!
What is he then?
He is simply a homo sapien trying to be human with the face, heart and soul(?) of humanity.
Does he believe in God?
Does he believe in Jesus Christ of Nazareth as his Lord and Savior?
Does his life's walk matches with his life's talk?
What is being "Christian" really?
"Christianity" and "Christian" are not terms and concepts promulgated directly from Jesus Christ; but through his followers.
In other words, Jesus Christ did not start the religion "Christianity", nor did He build the first church building; He is the foundation of the Universal Church, the "ekclesia", the "called out" aggregate body of the assembly of believers, past, present and future.
The first believers and followers of Jesus Christ after His crucification, resurrection and ascension to Heaven were first simply known as "followers of The Way".
Later they were first called "Christians" in Antioch. "Christians" , by the way, means "little christs" or followers of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
Jesus Christ did not come to start a new religion, far from it, He came to reconcile Man to God and restore true and total freedom to enjoy God and live our lives to the fullest of abundance on Earth and continue it in perfection in eternity.
So, who is a "Christian", simply anyone who freely and willingly humbles himself or herself to accept the fact that he or she is a sinner needing Jesus Christ's atoning forgiveness to be reconciled to the Father and continue the journey of a changed life, loving God and loving Man and be blessing to others while living out his or her remaining life to the fullest.
A Christian is simply a true follower of Christ and as a follower, you emulate the whole being of the leader.
Is Barrack Hussein Obama a Christian?
His name "sounds" more "non Christian" than otherwise, but his words and actions that must have came out of his heart and thoughts should be the subjects and objects of scrutiny rather than mere name.
Jesus Christ, if we bother to find out who he is historically when he spent his 33 years of his life on Earth some 2000 years ago in present day Israel, Palestine and Jordan is by any standard then and even now: a Radical, liberal definitely to the religious people then and liberal to the people now so long as they possess the same paralyzed paradigms and mindsets.
Barack Hussein Obama is a Christian because he is follower of Jesus Christ in his stand and action for the radical liberalization of the human heart and soul in loving God and loving Man; not religiosity or legalism.
He is a Radical Liberal only when he is viewed from people adorned with high rimmed lenses tainted with heavy contamination of religiosity, legalism and self-righteousness, irrespective of religion or prejudice.
To me, Barack Hussein Obama embodies the freshness of the morning dew.
Nothing new, but absolutely fresh.
In the midst of the many failing systems around us, no one quick fix is enough, we need a fresh review and revamp of the global system and that takes radical people with radical ideas to effect radical changes and the changes must be liberal too, because the "old and tested ways" from burning fossil fuel for energy to "Us Vs Them Rivalry" are broken.
I would rather Barack Hussein Obama be called a "Radical Liberal" and be effective in fixing the many pressing global problems surrounding us, then be revered as "His Holiness" occupying inappropriately in the White House and playing his fiddle while the whole country and the world burn.
The US did not elect a religious person or leader into power, they need change and they elected for change and if positive changes are not realized within the first term, there shall be no second term and in a nutshell, God has delegated the responsibilty of Earth's stewardship to Man.
Is it important for the elected President of USA or for a matter of fact, any nation, to be a religious person, other religion or no religion?
It matters not.
What matters is still that cats catches mice, colors does not matter, cats or rats or otherwise!
