You exercise regularly, maintain a healthy and well-balanced diet, and avoid bad foods. Common sense dictates that you should reach your desired weight goal in a relatively short time, right? Wrong. If this were actually true, then why does this method only seem to work for some and not for others? Because mindset is a factor, and having a negative mindset can easily be part of the reason that your weight-loss attempts have been undermined in the past, even when your attempt was made using a healthy and proven method.
We all know that losing weight can take a long time, especially those last twenty or so pounds. A negative-mindset is the enemy that will try to convince you that the short period of time you have worked on your weight-loss goal has been long enough, and it's time to quit.
It is very easy to fall victim to a negative mindset. "I'm tired." "This isn't working." "This will take forever." "One more key-lime pie with whipped cream won't hurt." "I'm not meant to be thin." "Who needs a six-pack anyway, I'm happy with my forty-ounce!" "This diet always works for everybody else, why not me?" Sound familiar?
The way around the negative mindset is to start positive and stay positive. Get into your weight-loss program with a strong mindset. Plan it out. Only you know what your goals are, and using your imagination to see a clear mental image of your desired result is a good start. Understand and keep in mind that somewhere along the road there will be occasional setbacks of some kind, it happens to everyone, and it is during those times of setback that the negative mindset can take control and pull you off course.
Resist the temptation to give in to the negative mindset that your own mind will create, and completely ignore the words of people who tell you that you can't do it, and that you will fail in your attempt. If you listen to the naysayer, or to the part of your mind that tries to hold you back, then you will definitely fail. No question. However, if you stay positive, stay focused and don't give up, you will succeed.
Take the time to learn how to change your negative mindset to a positive one. This is as important as your food choices and exercises will be. It might sound easy, but if you are someone who is prone to negativity then retraining your mind to think in a positive way can be as difficult as running a marathon without the proper training. If you feel you need help or wish to research the subject,
