CHRISTIAN VIEWS ON GOSSIP.
If only the Christians would know the dangers of gossip, they would keep far away from it. Because of lack of knowledge concerning gossip and its dangers, many have cut off God's blessings from themselves.
The bible uses different names for gossip (such as talebearer, slander, busybody, and whisperer). In Lev 19:16 the bible says that you shall not go about as a talebearer among your people nor shall you take a stand against the life of your neighbor, I am the Lord.
Gossiping or tale bearing according to the bible is going against the very life of the victim. There is no difference between gossiping and hiring an assassin with a gun to kill your neighbor.
Let me show you why God is against gossiping.
You see when someone gossips, he/she uses words. The bible in Prov.
18:21 says that Death and Life are in the power of the tongue and those who love it will eat its fruit.
Generally, there are five levels of words that we speak: level one is the words of life, level two is what I call the vocabulary of silence (Joshua 6:10, Luke 1:20), level three is the idle words (Matt 12:36), the fourth level is murmuring and complaining (1Corn 10:10) and the fifth are the words of death (see Eph 4:29, Num 14:36-37).
From bible, evidence we shall see that gossip falls into the category of words of death. Prove 10:18 says whoever hides hatred has lying lips and whoever spreads slander (read gossip) is a fool. A fool according to Psalm 14: 1 is the person who says in his heart that there is no God.
Now a gossiper when gossiping is speaking words (words of death) which are against God's word. The five levels I have listed above are activated by two laws. Words of life are activated by the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus and words of death are activated by the law of sin and death. Therefore, a gossiper automatically puts into motion the law of sin and death (Rom 8:2).
Let me show you how it works, in Prove 18:8 the bible says the words of a talebearer are like tasty trifles (wounds) and they go down into the inmost body. First the word of a gossiper causes wounds in our spirit man or the heart. This is what the bible is calling the inmost body. Secondly these words lodge in our spirit man. This is like taking a slow moving dangerous poison into your body system, which kills you slowly.
When our spirit or heart is wounded it weakens, that is why many Christians are sick and unable to
