The question isn't so much if Obama will lose liberal support but more if he can 'regain' the support he has already lost. When America elected him as president they did so because they wanted so called 'change'. He so far has not shown any promising plans to help make this change happen. If he doesn't start providing, it will end up being a big problem to help carrying him over to a second term.
Many liberals are already growing impatient of the way he is handling the war on terror as he still has yet to close Gitmo prison and is stepping up the effort in Afghanistan...neither which are what hopeful left wings want to see. It is so important to them that we retreat from this war that it is starting to dash their beliefs in him as a national peacekeeper.
He knew during the election that this would be one of his ball in hands and he capitalized on it without just admitting it is a failed plan. As long as the Arab nations are a threat to us, we have to be on the offensive.
He has also promised to save the economy and once again has so far failed. With unemployment rates rising at a rapid pace and a volatile stock market, it is not helping to gain his strength. Liberals want immediate satisfaction and are growing impatient. Most of America cannot sit around and wait for plans to keep failing while we lose our houses, jobs, etc.
Another thing that will lose him support on this issue is the lavish vacation he recently took. It is one thing to be Hollywood and spend boo-coo bucks but to be the president and throw around money doesn't look good. America wants to be reassured that he knows what we are going through economically and not being conservative doesn't prove that 'at all'!
One of the final issues that will make liberals lose support in him is health care. When we can't afford to pay our mortgages, we also can't afford to pay our doctors bills or prescriptions and the White House hasn't come up with any rational plans thus far. No one wants to let their family members suffer because they are unable to pay for medical care while Congress battles it back and forth on what to do.
Democrats also had such a high hope in Hilary Clinton with this issue as she tried so hard before yet it seems as if she has just fizzled out. With her being one of the big hopes, Obama doesn't stand much of a chance if something isn't done.
With such little experience under his belt, he is going to have to learn and produce much quicker than he is or we're going to see a huge rise in independents next election.
