JK Rowling spent over 10 years perfecting each and every one of her characters. Can you imagine sitting at a cafe day after day and just rambling on about characters' personality traits?
I think it's cool that she found the names to some of her characters in a cemetery while going for a walk. That is probably where she got the inspiration for Harry Potter to have his first major confrontation with Voldemort, there in a cemetery with the statue of death looming over Harry.
It created a visual picture of fear, for you don't know what is going to happen to Harry Potter. Voldemort is a powerful enemy who has a magic command and with the flick of a wand, you're dead!
How about the twins and their candy concoctions? Now that took some real imagination and the hilarity of it was portrayed in each of the Harry Potter movies.
To capture the imaginations of millions from every continent , and bring us together as one unit of fans, is remarkable too.
How many authors do you know appeal to that many people all at once? The Harry Potter series isn't just for children, it's for adults to relate to instances in their childhood.
The dreams of having magic, to be naughty in school without being expelled, creative ways to deal with those bullies that used to torment us from time to time.
How about the gift of friendship? Where a boy not only becomes close with his School Master but also most of his teachers, except for one, Snape.
Yet Harry Potter learns the value of friendship through each and every chapter of the books that were written by JK Rowling. She paints a picture of a boy struggling with his inner demons, one who can control some of his destiny but not all of it. One who is taking steps to change his life and destinies while he can.
A boy who raises an army within the walls of his school to defend it, chase away the darkness and develop a form of self confidence.
Harry Potter is a character that inspires children from all over the world to follow their dreams, visions and to create a new life for themselves if they only believe in themselves.
Harry Potter inspires all of us to create friendships with the young and the old. To learn from the wise, be a shoulder to the weak and to lead those who need guidance.
It's about taking your destiny in your hand, and writing about what you can do to change it. JK Rowling showed the true art of character development in her Harry Potter series, strong characters that we could all relate to in some way, shape or form.
