Be creative. The more inventive you are displaying your items means that you might find more to sell. Know what you must sell and raid your house for the rest. Organize and scavenge. A garage sale can be financially rewarding and fun.

~Set Prices~

Be realistic but fair. Set higher prices for haggling. Keep your offers firm. Price each matching piece or price it together as a set. When unsure of the value, search on the Internet.

~Make A List~

Make an inventory list that includes the price for every thing that you are selling. This will give you an approximate dollar total that you can expect to receive from the sale. If you want more money, you may find other items to put in the sale. Incorporate a raffle for expensive new things that have the original price tag or gently used appliances and furniture.

~Early Bird Specials~

Your sale will last two to three days but you can have a pre-sale or early bird special before the day of the sale. When you advertise your garage sale, you will add your telephone number. Many people would like to come early to get the best items that you are offering. You make an appointment for them. This quiet inside sale gives you three to four extra days to sell.

It is profitable to get an early start and reduces inventory quick. Clear out one area in your home or garage where you can put all of your garage sale items. The living room is usually the best inside room. Some of these early shoppers will ask for specific items and not necessarily want a look at every thing. Cover or remove personal property that is not for sale.

~Outside Sale Display~

How you display your items will invite more sales. Keep girls and boys clothing together in one area. People will see a table of pink clothing first and might not stop if they are looking for boys clothing. Overlooked unisex clothing results and you could lose a sale. At a garage sale, socks invite shoe sales so keep shoes and socks next to each other.

The best way to sell men and women clothing is to put it in the area that will attract a customer to see it if they are not looking for clothing. If you are selling small kitchen appliances and dishes, make room on the table for some women t-shirts and shorts. Put up a line with women’s clothes behind these tables. Small sizes sell best placed next to music CD’s. Place robes and lingerie with maternity clothes.

On the table where you are selling books is a good place to put winter clothing like sweaters, scarves, stocking caps and
