No, Parental Stress does not Endanger Children.
Living is stressful. Working is stressful. Paying bills is stressful. Children are very stressful. But stress is not abuse. Parents who are experiencing a lot of stress do need to learn new coping skills for their present dilemma however, most, if not all would be horrified to think that they would be considered at the edge of committing a crime against their children. Growing up they saw examples of raising their children, dealing with day to day problems. Never did they think that gas would go to five dollars a gallon, it would take two full time jobs to pay the bills for a normal family of four and another part time job or two for the extras. Going out to dinner was a nice restaurant in town with table clothes and great food; now, it is "Mikey D" on the fly. No one would have guessed that children would carry guns to school for self protection, bullies would be on killing sprees. Grandpa and Grandma are in nursing homes losing their life savings, house and any legacy left for their ; going to provide care for themselves in their declining years. The education of coping with the kinds of changes going on in present day are tremendous, books, TV shows, article after article. But the facts are the family unit is under attack but not by the parents trying to provide for their love ones. Its under attack by the loss of ethics and morales and principles that is the very foundation that our country was founded upon.
Abuse is caused by an individual or individuals attempting to control, manipulate and overpower a person, place or thing. Abusive personalities do not need stress of give them an excuse to act out their personalities and character flaws. They gain their courage from the lack of action. The lack of action from spouses, families, friends, communities, churches and police. Remembering a time long ago, when a grandfather and uncles who lived far away came in the middle of the night and took a father out back for a talk. When they came back, he had a better understanding of his job being the head of his house. We are duty bound to correct our families, friends, communities, churches and police. As patriarch and matriarch of our families to set the examples. encourage strong moral practices, refrain from inappropriate friendships and relationships, shape our children with positive influences, chose the course of our lives and our children.
