Making wise diet choices is not as hard as some people make it out to be. People believe that in order to eat right all you have to eat is fruits and vegetables and cut out all fats and carbohydrates. This is not true. In order for one to be healthy, one needs all of these nutrients, but just in different portions.

You have probably heard this before, but the most important meal of the day is breakfast. Eating breakfast wakes you up and kick-starts your metabolism. There are many different things you could eat for breakfast that are healthy, but it is what you eat and how much you eat. In order to start the day off right, you will need more carbs than anything else. Plus you will need to eat at least one serving of protein, dairy, and fruit. So a good breakfast could look something like this, a bowl of oatmeal, a glass of skim milk, an egg white, and an orange.

Now that we have breakfast taken care of, we need to address the next meal. Most people think that the next meal would be lunch...wrong. In fact, The next meal would be about two and a half hours after you eat breakfast. Ask any expert and they will tell you that eating five small meals every two and a half hours is better than eating three big meals. Yes, these meals after breakfast and lunch are snacks and do not have to be as big as other meals, but they will still help you control your hunger.

Two and a half hours after that snack and it is time for lunch. Here we need something from each food group except dairy. Only this time carbohydrates needs to be what we eat the least of. A good lunch will look something like a piece of salmon, some broccoli, a banana, and a glass of water. Be careful not to eat too much fish because you could get mercury poison. Now remember two and a half hours after this it is time for a snack, something along the lines of dairy, maybe some string cheese.

The last meal of the day is dinner. In this meal there should be no carbohydrates and should take place between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. The reason there is no need for any carbohydrates is because this is the time of day where we are winding down. Carbs provide us with energy which we have no need for at the end of the day, plus they contain more fat which if we do not exercise after dinner, it will just sit in our stomach. Also eating around these times will also help you burn more calories and fat when you are sleeping.

If you can follow these tips, you will not only be eating healthy, but you will also be living healthy.
