Believing in God

During the times that we now live, it would be easy to believe that God is just a puff of smoke, a magician's trick, a sooth sayer trying to make sense of this world. But the truth is how can you dispute His presents?

Listening and watching the 911 broadcasts each time it played, you did not see the face of God there? It was reported that more miracles happened on that fateful day than in all history. You saw the building fall and collapse on everyone there inside and out. The billowing clouds of dusk and smoke, concrete structure fall in seconds with nothing left standing. Yet, how many actually died?

The reaction of the city and its population, quiet, calm, faithfully praying, hoping, helping, coming together to grieve. The songs of dedication and strength. The courage of the city workers, volunteers, police and firemen. The memory of those few seconds and the action to go towards the danger, that is the presents of God. The weeks after looking for signs of life, honoring the memories of each of those that in the moment rose to the limits of their humanity and accepted their place in that faithful day. The plane loaded with those courageous souls who refused to go without a fight so that others may live.

Watching and waiting, holding our breath for the next assault of our love ones, arms to ready, sober citizens willing to go to battle and fight the good fight. The hurricane in New Orleans taking the city, the homes, families, their possessions, pets. Stories of pets being returned, families being reunited. Community reaching out and helping, churches opening their doors, people affording help with clothing, household goods , food. Jobs created to help displaced people. The love that we share is proof that God is with us.

The times we face now, with no jobs, with no money, trusting that whatever happens we will remain together and get through this with the same sense of compassion and helpfulness towards our friends and neighbors. Share your home, your meals and your good fortune with these that are presently have to face the trials. We all are facing these trials. Our ability to prevail is testimony to our Christian faith in God and our trust in Him. While you face your next crisis, look for Him. He is with you. Watch the miracles happen in your life.
