So have you ever wondering if there was a way to entertain your cat and keep them happy with out spending a lot of money. Well there are ways to keep kitty occupied and happy with out spending too much.
Almost everyone has seasonal clothes that they need to store for certain months of the year. If you don't have clothes you need to store then maybe you have extra blankets you use for company that you need to store. Regardless of what it is a great way to store it is in a large Rubbermaid container, I recommend the 37 gallon containers. When you put the clothes or blankets in the Rubbermaid container, consider placing it near a window, and putting a bathroom rug or bath mat on it. It will create a perfect low cost and functional window spot for kitty to lay, sunbathe, and watch the birds. But do not forget to check and make sure the container can hold kitties weight and that the top is secure on the container and snaps into place. The more that you put in the container the sturdier it will be.
Another low cost way to keep kitty entertained is with those little colorful plastic eggs that everyone gets at Easter. I like to fill the plastic egg with catnip, and a few cotton balls. The cotton balls will help keep all of the catnip from falling out of the holes that are often in one or both ends of the plastic egg. After I put the catnip and cotton balls in the plastic egg, I snap the two halves together and carefully secure the outside with packing tape. I recommend supervising kitty while they play with this toy. My cat loves to play with his while I check my e-mails at night. When not in use I like to keep the plastic egg toy in a Ziploc bag, so that they catnip will stay fresh a little longer.
Another one of my favorite low cost cat toys are the little tennis balls that are sold at pets mart for a dollar, and at most pet store for around the same price. I prefer to get the ones from pets mart because the texture of them tends to stick to cat nip a little bit easier then other brands. I like to take the little tennis balls and roll them in a bag of cat nip, the balls tend to be pretty tough and kitty can put his nails in it and have a good time getting the catnip off of it. If you a dog you need to watch out, because I have discovered that dogs like these as well and large dogs will take them and sometimes break the ball in half because it is so small. So if you have a Labrador retriever that loves tennis balls give them their own tennis ball and give kitty a small cat sized one.
Those are just a few of my favorite ways to entertain kitty and keep them happy on a low budget.
