Reflections: God the Father

It has been said: If calling God "Father" was good enough for Jesus, then why isn't it good enough for us? That is an excellent question! To be sure, calling God Father is a common address used by most Christians regardless of their denominational affiliation. After all, there is no prayer more widely used than the Lord's Prayer, where Jesus Himself teaches us to say: Our FATHER which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

Yes, the title Father is used by most Christians. Unfortunately, it is used all too often, mindlessly and with differing ideas as to what the word Father really means. When Jesus referred to God as His Father, He obviously had a complete and correct understanding as to why God was His Father. God was His Father, because it was God who by the power of His Holy Spirit impregnated Mary with the Word of God, and the Word of God became the Son of God, Jesus the Christ, 2000 years ago (John 1:1,14). In other words, God became the literal father of Jesus, via a process called procreation. The Jews understood correctly, and were ready to stone Him for such blasphemy.

So, the question is: If calling God Father was good enough for Jesus, then why isn't it good enough for us? Well, the unfortunate answer is that the Roman Catholic Church, including all daughter churches (Protestant Church, Lutheran Church, Baptist Churches, Evangelicals, etc.) have and are teaching that we cannot become literal sons and daughters of God, and that therefore God can never be our literal Father, through procreation, as was His first born son Jesus.

Of course, if Jesus is truly our example and brother, than we should be able to call God Father, equally literally, and with the same meaning, as did Jesus. But wouldn't you know, if you do, they (who call themselves Christians) will take up stones against you, for the idea that Jesus became a literal son, through PROCREATION, is rejected by orthodox Christianity as blasphemous and as contrary to 1700 years of Roman Catholic traditional teaching. They will concede that one can be adopted by God, but never begotten and born of God, as was Jesus.

What is the problem? The problem is the (false) trinity doctrine that defines God as: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost from all eternity. The trinity by its inherent nature will always be limited to three. But God is not a trinity! God is a family which by its inherent nature is unlimited, meaning that God can and will have an unlimited number of children who can and will call Him Abba Father in the most personal and literal sense of the words.

Bottom line: If calling God "Father" was good enough for Jesus, it is good enough for those who have repented of sin, have been baptized and have received the gift of God's Holy Spirit, making them begotten children of their Father God, and brethren of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Bible clearly teaches that that which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Since no one is already spirit, no one is already born again. They who tell us that they are already born again, do not understand what it means to be born again. Jesus, during His 33 years on earth was the first (so) begotten Son of God and therefore called God His Father. He became the born Son of God by His resurrection, never able to sin or die again. Likewise we, if we are begotten children of God, will call God our Father and become born children of God by a resurrection, at the second coming of Christ, never able to sin or die again. Come quickly Lord Jesus.
