Poetry: Missing you

Missed

Love languished

as wisdom grew,

but what if this moment

is wrong?

Loved for a thousand

days and nights, but

now, almost a

forgotten dream.

Missed - like a warm spring

rain in the throes of winter,

memories cracking as the

ice beneath my feet.

Missed - the aroma of a

summer garden, full of

color and scents, now

faded by winter's gloom.

Missed - like the morning

dew, normally glistening and

bright, now sorrowful amid

the decay and rotting.

Missed - the winding path

where we walked hand

in hand, now dusty and

feverish in the burning sun.

Missed - the ocean waves

biting at our toes where we

lay laughing, our images now

seared in the burning sand.

Missed - like the moon

glow shining through the

clouds, clear and comforting now

waning in the nighttime sky.

Missed - like a childhood

full of ageless wonder,

even as you know that

death is inevitable.

Little remains

to imagine, nothing

to inhale, breathless and

waiting to exhale.

But truly, nothing is lost.

The sun still rises and sets,

and though we might be lost

love always lights our way.
