THE FEARLESS CALLER
O, most fearless caller!
Man's most fiendish friend!
O, most noiseless caller!
Mortal's mortal bridge!
At every doorstep knocking
At every life- stage calling
They visits vehemently august
Thy stay stunningly brief.
At every doorstep calling
The Toms, the Dicks and the Harry's
The innocent Toms and Jerrie's
At every doorstep calling
Why wickedly faithful?
Most efficient devil!
Why inclemently steady?
Yet, our earthly foe!
Your pay packets so generous
Your undeniable sacrament
Must all mortals receive
That like one spell-bound
And like one tongue-tied
Sheepishly we obey!
Our clarion call obey!

by J.B. Hickock

We all must venture into it, yet fear of it is rife,
Death I do not
