ROCK-A-BILLY BLUES

Don't call me a Hill-Billy
I'm a Blue-Neck down my soul
Baby Martin on my knee
Playin' to a mare and foal

Pan handlin' to gas the pick up
Thankin' the Lord for the pre-nup
I'm a pack rat with nothin' to lose
Cryin' the Rock-a-Billy Blues

Prayin' for my next gig
Never thought it'd be with you
Put a song in my heart
When I thought I was through

Ya know, was too good to last
Ya don't see someone's past
Putin' together all the clues
Cryin' the Rock-a-Billy Blues

Your come-on got me off guard
Lookin' back, was too breezy
Another notch on your bedpost
Your good-by, way too easy

A soul of rock in a river of dreams
A sky of blue an' warm sunbeams
A guitar man with one pair of shoes
Singin' the Rock-a-Billy Blues

So I'm on the move again
Fish jumpin' by the dock
The river is on a roll
Songs all I've got, nothin' to hock

Lookin' for a Rock-a-Billy Band
A mare an foal's all that's on hand
A chestnut crowd for me to amuse
Singin' the Rock-a-Billy Blues
