Understanding why we experience low energy levels

There are a variety of reasons why we can experience low energy levels. One of the main reasons could be your diet. If you have a diet that consists of eating high processed food and empty calories, your not going to feel like a million dollars. Fruits, vegetables, and whole grains are essential for providing our bodies with the vitamins and minerals for working at its optimum peak. When you eat unhealthy foods, not only are you not getting the nutrition you need but your body has to work that much harder to rid itself of the chemicals and preservatives you packed into it. Trust me, those nutritionists know what they're talking about!

Another reason you could experience low energy is stress. Although a little is unavoidable, you should try to avoid stress at all costs because it wrecks havoc on your system and can completely drain you. If you feel it coming on just take some deep breaths and remember that life goes on and know the future is a new start. Exercise is also very beneficial in relieving stress because it focuses that energy elsewhere. Plus, exercise has other health benefits as well. Another good way to relieve stress is to talk about it with a friend or relative. Keeping it in is only going to cause more stress and further wear you down.

It is also important to get a good night's sleep as this is prime time for your body to rewind its clock. If you don't get rest and give your brain that chance to get its REM, its nerve connections are slow and in turn makes you slow. Let's face it, You're not going to be able to party all night and perform your best the next morning. Sleeping at a good time is also important. Studies have shown that your mind gets better REM in darkness than it does in light so don't try and cheat by staying up all night and sleeping all day. You're still going to feel drained in the long run.

So remember to eat right, live right, and sleep right to keep that low energy at bay. If you find that you do all these things and you still have low energy, you may want to speak to your health professional as it could be part of a medical problem and that is a sign you definitely wouldn't want to ignore.
