Being a single parent I can relate to this article, because I have three children by two different men. Both of them have not bothered to pay a single dime of child support in the past decade. Nor do they care, and what bothers me the most is when the state claims they are going after them. It is all a big joke to these people! I have filled out that paperwork in New Mexico, and Texas at least six times over the past ten years! Nothing has happened yet, and it is ticking me off! I take care of those kids primarily by myself. I have struggled through dead end jobs, and endured peoples jeering looks and criticism for a long time.
Why does it always seem like the parents at fault, that is raising the children? Why does society want to be so quick to judge us for being single parents? The majority of us did not ask to be put in such a sticky situation. I love those kids with all my heart, and soul. It hurts me to see them upset because their fathers are not in their lives. The government is too soft on these parents that refuse to take care of their kids. They need to harden up on them, and make them take care of their kids in a timely fashion. I am still waiting to hear when court dates are going to be set. Meanwhile my kids get older every year, and the things they need and want are expensive. Every year that passes I hope to hear good news. I pray they will make them pay current, and back payments of child support. I could really use the money to care for these kids.
My oldest daughter has been in high school for over a year. She would like to have a laptop computer for school work, but I don't have that kind of cash. I believe if her father paid at least two hundred dollars in child support I would be able to afford it. He is a general contractor for a well known construction company. He makes over 2400 hundred dollars a month! So I believe he should be able to pay at least that much a month in child support. My two youngest girls father receives over 800 dollars in social security disability a month. I believe he should be able to pay at least 100 dollars a month to his daughters. Both of these men are not living hand to mouth, and how do I know this? I have seen it with my own two eyes. If you can go lease a brand new 2008 Chevy truck, you can pay child support.
