For over ten years, Jean and her husband were happily married. They went dancing, they went to the movies and they spent time together. It was for that reason that no one understood when Jean's entire personality changed. She no longer went out with her husband. She didn't attend family functions. She was in a state of depression. She was unhappy in her marriage.
This went on for some time and then Jean started to visit family out of town. She became interested in new hobbies and began traveling more often. She became a different person. She seemed happy again. Her husband, family and friends didn't understand. No one knew what was going on with her.
It wasn't until months later that Jean admitted that she had fallen in love with another man. She never intended for it to happen. She never imagined that someone could make her so happy.
The following year consisted of moving boxes, divorce papers and confusion for Jean's husband. For Jean, it was even more complicated. It was moving boxes, divorce papers and being in love with a man who lived several hundred miles away.
Jean tried to explain to her daughter and her husband that she hadn't meant to end her marriage. She was unhappy with her life and she was looking for happiness. She didn't intend or expect to find happiness in the arms of another man. She fell in love with him without intention of deceit. He simply shared memories and ideas and values that were important to her and she was lost in the eyes and heart and soul of this man who she had to believe was her soul mate.
Desperate for understanding, Jean tried to explain her feelings to her family and close friends. They tried to be supportive but couldn't understand the depth of her feelings and of the love she felt for this man that they hardly knew.
It wasn't until her daughter spoke to her new found love that she began to understand. Her daughter described this man as a real life Prince Charming. A rare find these days. Over the following months, others began to see how happy Jean was and began to understand how much her new relationship meant to her.
Jean gave up the life she had once longed for because she found something she never even knew existed. She found true love and she went after it with perseverance and confidence in following her heart. No one understood the material life she gave up until they saw the glow of happiness radiating when she was with her soul mate.
