Poetry: Family struggles

Just One Time

It takes one time to say I love you

When all things go swell

To praise someone for their efforts

Or compliment them for a good deed

It takes one time to say I hate you

As you look at them in another perspective

To see them wither away into darkness

To see them corrupt the others around them

It takes one time to say I'll kill you

Meditating on the words everyday

Isolating them as they pass by

With demon possessed emotions clogged inside

It will all happen one day

When a family is torn apart

By the actions of a teenage boy

Who doesn't seem to care at all

The boy is warned

And doesn't seem to care

If he dies

By the end of the year

His mother is always stressed

Trying to talk to him

He yells and talks to her disrespectfully

Not listening to one thing she said

His sister doesn't understand why

He does the things he does

To tell him how serious the matter is

He cusses her out without any thinking

He doesn't want to listen

Nor does he want to know

What will happened to his wretched person

If he continues the same bad habits

His father is understandable

Giving him chances time and time again

But with no sign of results

Impatience lingers through his infuriated body

It will all happen today

When the boy is charged for a crime

Underage and in middle school

Already determining his future

His father doesn't take it likely

Creeping up the stairs quietly

To shock the boy out of his mind

For he knew what he got himself into

Lies are uttered out of his mouth

Not making any ounce of sense

A rapid slash across his back

Wakes his unalarmed body

Unable to move

From the pain the first whip caused

He laid straight as a piece of paper

As he screamed in silence

His sister stands there

Shaking from her legs up

Couldn't bear to see

Her brother being punished

His father's belt breaks as the belt clashes with the boy's backside

He could barely breathe

Sympathy is nowhere to be found in his father's heart

As he whipped the boy even harder and harder with the broken belt

The boy was unable to move his hands

As his father strapped his arms down to the bed

So that he could feel the full throttle

Of death to come

The boy falls on the floor

Weak and in pain

His father beats him on the back some more

Remembering the beatings, he owed him previously

His mother vouched for him once more

Placing her hand on the belt as a sign to stop

Adrenaline seeps out of the father's pores

As he threatened to beat her too

Before he left with anger raging in his eyes

He kicks the boy in his face two times

Threatening to kill him

And cut into his beaten skin

It will all happen one day

To this family

Where in public they're happy

But dysfunctional behind closed doors

It will all happen one day

When the boy will end up on a tombstone

With no pity from his father

Death was a sign of satisfying results

It will all happen one day

When his mother and father will divorce

From mother being too lenient

From father being too aggressive and uncivilized

It will all happen one day

When nothing can be brought back

Drastic measures were taken

That wouldn't be able to change

It takes one time to say I'll kill you

Because the second time will be death
