When it comes to little kids, keeping them active is the best way to help them learn especially when it comes to sports. Baseball is a great sport to start kids out with playing, even if it's just in the back yard.
Start with teaching your kid how to throw and catch the ball. Then start him with learning how to properly swing a bat. Once he has these basic skills, start to teach him some of the simple rules.
Teach him about outs, and running the bases. Tell him how many innings are usually in a game. Then set up a pick up game in the backyard with his friends. They certainly won't look like any spectacular team, but the kids will be having fun and staying active which is something that all kids need to do.
After they take an interest, perhaps start watching professional games on TV or actually go out to the ballpark. As soon as the kid is old enough, enroll him in t-ball or little league so that a coach can take over where you have left off.
