WHAT IS FAITH?
For us to understand what faith is and how it works in our lives, it is important to start right from when man was created.
In Genesis 2:7 the bible says and the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul.
God created man a triune being: man is a spirit, having a soul and living in a body. See 1 Thess 5:23, Heb 4:12.So when God turned the dust in a figure of man, the figure was just there. It could not talk, move or do anything until God breathed life into it.
That breathing into the nostrils of the man is the process when the human spirit was deposited within man. Remember that the human spirit originated from God. The soul which is our mind will and emotions were attached when the spirit came in.
Immediately when God breathed into man and he became a living being, he started communicating with God. Let me at this juncture bring a scripture in Rom 10:17 which say that faith comes by hearing and hearing God's word, so when Adam was hearing God speak to him in the Garden of Eden; faith was being deposited into him continuously.
To see how faith worked powerfully in Adam before the fall; the bible says in Gen 2:19-20 that God brought to him all the beasts, birds and every living creature to see what he would name them. He did this without any struggle __ I will return to that incident later on.
Now we have seen that man is a spirit, having a soul and living in a body; with our spirit we are able to contact God, who is a Spirit, and other spiritual beings in the spirit realm. With our soul, we are able to reason out in this natural world, store and process information and make choices in life. And of course with our body we are able to navigate this natural world ___the five senses help us to do this.
At this point I want us to understand that there are two realms in the universe _the spiritual and the natural. The bible in most cases refers to the spiritual realm as the unseen and the natural as the seen. The seen realm was created by the unseen realm by using words, so the natural came from the spirit.
Everything you see around you has a spiritual root.
The Strong's concordance defines the word faith like this, conviction, confidence, trust, belief, reliance trustworthiness and persuasion. The New Testament setting of faith is the divinely implanted principle of inner confidence, assurance, trust and
