Lighthouses
Grand, staid old sentinels of the sea,
Guarding rocky coasts of swirling tide,
Lighting the way for ships in the night,
The lighthouses stand with historic pride.
Their fiery beams penetrate the dark,
Sending forth their welcomed life-lights,
Saving many a sailor and his ship,
From wreck and ruin on treacherous nights.
Warning seafaring men to keep clear,
Come not too close upon this shore,
'Twill be the destruction of your ship and you,
Your loved ones will see you no more.
But for the lighthouses along the coasts,
Some poor ships on the oceans tossed,
Even with modern navigation to guide,
Would most certainly to the sea be lost.
Long may they stand as guiding beacons,
Along the coastal peripheries,
Lighting the way for ships in the night,
And the mariners who brave the rough seas.

Tourists stroll along

Lighthouses
Grand, staid old sentinels of the sea,
Guarding rocky coasts of swirling tide,
Lighting the way for ships in
