Short stories: An entire story using only one-syllable words

One day a black cat named, Pat, went to climb a tree, so he could see the view from up high; but he could not. Each time he tried to go up he would fall; he could not get a grip. Pat called to his friend - a bird named, Tweet. "Tweet, will you grab me and fly me up the tree?" "I can't, Pat, my friend. I would if I could, but I am too small." Pat talked to Tweet for a while (so as not to be rude), thanked his friend and went to think. Then Pat saw a swing on the tree and jumped on it; this did not work. For he still could not reach a limb. He tried one more time, flew off the swing and fell on a chair. Once he made sure he was not harmed, he smiled. He just had a thought! He would jump on the chair and reach a limb on the tree! But, it was not to be.

Pat more or less quit his quest, but then he saw his friend, Bob, the dog.

"Bob, I try and try to get up this tree, but I can not seem to do it"

"You can climb on my back, Pat, and see if that will help you climb the tree."

"I would try that, Bob, but I have tried that chair near the tree and could not get to a low limb. As you can see, you are not as tall as that chair."

"Well, Pat, I can stand up next to the tree. Then you can climb on my back and then on my head. Then you might reach."

"Thanks, Bob! That might work!," Pat grinned from ear to ear.

Pat tried just that. It would have worked if the low limb had not been so small. As soon as Pat leaped on the limb he heard a snap. Next thing he knew, he was on the ground. Bob went to check on Pat, but Pat said there was no need, since he was fine. When Bob left, Pat cried and cried. He was sad he could not climb the tree.

Then, the man who took care of Pat came to help (for he had seen his cat try to get up that tree). He picked up his sad cat and put him on the best and most strong limb he could find. Pat now grinned, and he licked the man who took care of him, for he loved him so. Pat had a thought, though, "How will I get down?"

"Pat, I will stay near. When you want to come down from the tree, just call and I will help you." It was as if the man had heard his thoughts. Pat stressed no more. This was the best day of his life.
