Carpets enhance any home be they expensive or be they cheap, those of us that have homes know this, and it is part of the room's decor. Do you remember when the carpet fitter came to your home and fitted your nice new carpet, can you remember how it looked and how it smelt. Now after a couple of years, it looks all worn and tired and dare I say it dirty.

I does not take long for any carpet to become dirty looking, after all so would you if someone was walking all over you every day of your life.

There is only one-way to freshen your carpets properly, sure you can buy the fragrant powder that you sprinkle onto carpets just before you Hoover them. But that only masked the problem all it does is make your carpet smell sweeter.

It will tell you what my company that I own does to freshen up the carpets in the homes that I buy to rent out. I always tell my cleaning staff to clean any carpets in the home, some of them you cannot clean, but the vast majority you can. We first Hoover the carpets to get rid of most of the surface dirt. I then hire a good carpet cleaner. The best that it can find in Great Britain is from a store called home base a DIY that any British citizen can find near to where they live. The carpet cleaner is called Rug Doctor and all of the machines are new and in tiptop condition. You can hire one for the sum of around 35 all you have to do now is to buy the cleaning solution that goes with it. You have to buy the cleaning solution, you cannot hire it, this will cost roundabout 15 pounds, but that depends on how many carpets you are going to clean.

Now I tell my staff to take out any furniture in any of the rooms that they are going to clean the carpet. This is to make sure that they do not miss any of the carpet and it makes it far easy to clean the carpet. All you do now is follow the instructions that come with the Rug Doctor. Once you have finished you, will notice that the carpet is a little bit damp, let it dry before you walk on it or put the furniture back?

Pets can have an adverse condition on your carpets, no matter how clean you think your dog or cat is they can and do bring home fleas, just using a Hoover will not get rid of fleas or any other parasite for that matter. You can try using some kind of flea spray, but you will find that it will cost you a small fortune in flea spray. There is only one way to clean and freshen up carpets with that are infested with parasites and that is to steam clean your carpets.

So again Hoover the carpet this will Hoover up most of the fleas, all carpets have what is called nap - over time the nap becomes flat, it's a good idea to fluff up the nap this is easy to do. With a clean stiff bristled brush just quickly go over your carpet, before using the Hoover. Now with a steam cleaner just go over the carpet lightly, the steam will kill any left-over fleas and their eggs. Let the carpet dry again and then Hoover the carpet again you now have a fresh carpet that looks like new - free from fleas and all other parasites.
