New baby items flood the market every day and we are all familiar with the most best-selling ones, such as the walker and the car seat, but there are plenty more items that merit our attention. Many of the less known items will take a while for a review to come out about their safety. Fortunately, there are ways to determine unsafe baby products. All you need is a sound practical judgment and keep informed about these new baby items. Babies' lives worldwide are being put at risk by the following items.
Bumbo Baby Seat
What was supposed to be a parent facilitator turns out to be a parent's nightmare. Surely, it is easy to place baby in the sitter since it has no straps! But this poses a problem, even if the sitter is to only be used when placed on the floor. We all know that babies simply don't stay put and soon find a way to get out of their seats if not properly fastened. For this reason, a baby should never be placed in such a sitter without supervision. Although the manufacturer specified not to place baby on countertops, tables or sofas, parents still go ahead and risk it. After all, if you have a new item to facilitate your job as a parent, why not use it to the fullest, right? Here's why not, this is listed among the unsafe baby products since babies have been reported suffering from concussions and broken limbs.
Wipes Warmer
Although the idea of having warm wipes to clean your baby sounds good, don't be fooled. This new gadget has already been identified as a serious fire hazard. Just think about it, how safe can an electrical contraption heating paper be? Seriously, do you really need such a gadget? If you want warm wipes, you can always heat them between the palms of your hands just before using them.
Pacifier Clip with Beads
There are several manufacturers offering pacifier clips with beads, but aren't these unsafe baby products? Surely, the beads may be durable and non-toxic, but they may also be lethal for your baby if the pacifier clip happens to separate into pieces due to constant pulling. Have you thought about the possibility of your baby choking on the beads? This should definitely be taken into consideration when buying a pacifier clip for your baby.
Baby Talc
Although there are several wonderful alternatives on sale, some people still insist in using talc when changing diapers or bathing their baby. Nowadays, with modern moisture-free diapers there is practically no need for any product to be applied on baby's butt, but if necessary it is advised to use an ointment or cream instead of an unsafe baby product such as talc. Why not talc? Studies have proven that when inhaling talc, the body can react in a most adverse way, such as resulting in a respiratory disease or any other serious ailment.
