Recently I pondered over this thought - Our lifestyle must affect our job.
Most of the time, we ended up in a job or work because we have to earn money to live on. Little thought is given to consider many factors relating to our life. How many of us really consider properly and seriously before taking up a job offer?
I, for one, had never given any thought to how my job would affect my lifestyle. However, after almost 30 years on working for people, I realised that there is more than just getting a job. Initially, I took on jobs, just because I felt they were interesting and well paid. Over the years, my last job has been robbing me of a proper lifestyle. There is no family time due to work pressures and long hours. Holiday is often a fantasy. My personal mood gets irritated easily. Every time I want to go off on leave, I could not even switch off my handphone. I started asking myself, "Is this the lifestyle I wanted?".
Now, being more matured in my thoughts, I have come to the conclusion that our lifestyle or what we envisioned our ideal lifestyle should be a major factor in decision making of our career. We desire a great lifestyle, comfortable to our ways. If a job is going to give a negative effect on our predetermined lifestyle, serious considerations should be made.
I hope what I have just shared will give each of you food for thought. Think seriously about it. Why should you sacrifice a right kind of lifestyle you should have for a job that would eventually rob you of your peace and joy.
