Blind vs. discerning patriotism

Blind patriotism is not patriotism at all. The United States of America is a country founded on dissent and built by revolution. Discerning ideals of truth and freedom were the sole reasons for the revolutionary war. Many people labor under the misconception that the country was founded on ideas based around Christianity, when in fact it was not . It was founded solely on the desire to be free of tyranny in all it's forms. Thus, why such a delicate system of checks and balances was created. Our forefathers understood and even went to great pains to make sure that future generations would understand also, that the only way democracy can survive is through the determination and careful governance of the laws by it's people.
Thus 'by the people, of the people, and for the people'.
What is known as 'blind patriotism' is merely support for a given administration and is anything but in the best interest of the nation.
