Dark clouds rolled in, piling higher as they advanced on a hard wind
covering the sun so completely as to cause the yard light to switch on.
Flashes of lightening showed water pooling in the low spots in the road
and running over the sides of the rain gutters.
Thunder drowned out their voices as they laughed and cheered
the pelting rain as it broke the long held grip of the drought.

Poetry: Drought

Drought
Drought loomed over the arid land
like a grey ghost
teasing of rain.
Yet nothing happened for
years
and the farmers hoped
Rain rain come out to play
The crops are in a drought these days
Beaten by the sun
Sometimes being a farmers just no fun
DROUGHT
It's been in all the news,
it's been all the news.
Montage:
grey crepe of leaves
in surrendered fields
grey arcs of skin
in
Blazing in the heavens,
On the vast earth below,
The sun scorches the land,
And no living thing can grow.
The landscape is so
Drought No More
Crackling thunder rumbles
Zigzagging fingers fire
Flying through tumults
Of storm cloud strewn sky
