Interactive science and technology exhibits bring many visitors, both residents and tourists alike, to the Rochester Museum and Science Center located at 657 East Avenue in Rochester, New York. The center encompasses three floors and highlights various wonders of natural science and technology, and also displays several exhibits that portray the Rochester area's vast and distinctive cultural history. The museum is open from 9 A.M. to 5 P.M. Monday through Saturday and on Sundays from 11 A.M. to 5 P.M.

Several exhibits are available for viewing year-round and are very popular with visitors af all ages. One of these, Expedition Earth, is made up of three galleries: Glaciers and Giants, You and Your Earth, and An Ever-Changing Planet. All three of these galleries transport visitors back to what the landscape of upstate New York was like hundreds and thousands of year ago and the people and animals who inhabited the land in years past. Other longstanding exhibits include: How Things Work (an exhibit that shows through fun and hands-on activities who everyday things like light switches and thermostats work), Adventure Zone (a hands-on exhibit that lets you explore and investigate the underwater world of Lake Ontario), At the Western Door (an exhibit that shows how Native American people reacted to new objects that were introduced to them after the arrival of Europeans), and K'NEX (an exhibit that allows you to use creative and engineering skills to build your own toy that you can purchase and take home).

New, temporary exhibits are also always frequently introduced at the museum that intrigue regular visitors and keep them coming back. Some exhibits that are being displayed this summer are: Eyes on Earth (a traveling exhibit that highlights space technology, especially satellites), Discover "R" Weather (an interactive exhibit that explains the weather, how it forms and how weather forecasts are created), Light Here, Light Now (an optics exhibit that features lasers, prisms, and mirrors), and Flight to Freedom (an exhibit that helps viewers to understand the Underground Railroad and how Rochester was impacted by it, it also highlights some of the key players in making it a success and activists who put their all into abolishing slavery).

There is truly something that will interest everyone of any age at the Rochester Museum and Science Center in Rochester, New York, no matter what your interests happen to be. Take a few hours or even an entire day to explore this museum, you'll be glad you did.
