Recipes: Creative burgers

With summertime just around the corner it is more convenient to light up the grill and throw on some juicy burgers for dinner. After a while though, these once delicious and traditional burgers can turn into, "we're having what again?" The world is full of flavor and these distinct tastes and enticing toppings can turn any ole burger into a delightful and desired alternative to the regular ole burger. Try these amazing twists on burgers and the condiments that go along with'em!

Burger Twists:

Blueberry Burgers

For every one pound of beef add 1 cup of mashed blueberries and a sprig of chopped up rosemary. Grill the burgers to your preference and serve on a whole wheat bun with a sweet honey mustard which will compliment the fruity aroma!

The Hawaiian Burger

For this burger throw in some sweet and sour sauce(or plum sauce) when you are mashing the meat along with a clove of minced garlic. Grill these and slices of pineapple on the grill until cooked to your preference. I suggest using awesome Hawaiian sweet rolls. So delicious. Try topping some yummy grilled Vidalia onions to the mix too!

The Thai Burger

For this burger use extra lean ground turkey and mash it with a chopped red chili pepper and one thumb of minced ginger. Try throwing in a little bit of sea salt and garlic pepper to it as well. Try to find a balance between spicy and hot. I love to serve this burger on a folded piece of naan bread which gives it that ethnic feel.

The Greek Burger

This one will take you to the ruins in no time. Use a pound of ground lamb and and some Dijon mustard, lemon juice, minced onion, minced garlic, a pinch of dried rosemary, and some sea salt. Once you have mashed this altogether, stuff the middle of each burger with feta cheese and grill to your preference. Serve these on whole wheat buns, topped with sliced kalamata olives and hummus spread!
