Why do most people always assume it was the man who cheated when a relationship breaks up?

Most men cheat is a common myth within our society. Men have a higher sex drive than the average women and a lot of relationships end off of men cheating. So when a relationship ends between a man or woman it is automatically believed that the man cheated. Not to say that women do not cheat that would be outrageous, because for every man that cheats there are women that cheat.

Men are automatically presumed to cheat for a number of reasons. One of the reasons is that men are stereo typed that they think with their hormones and not with their heart or head. If this were true within the countless number of men, you wouldn't have such men as A.C. Green. He was a NBA championship pro basketball player who did not lose his virginity until he was twenty nine. With all the women throwing themselves at him he never wavered to think with his lower half. And when he met the right woman for him he took her on every road game with him.

The two of them are still together to this day. A lot of romance movies out these days portrays men as mean and un loyal creatures who defile and humiliate a woman before she finds that man who will be loyal and honor her. Waiting To Exhale comes to mind right now, in this movie just about everyman was cheating on his wife or girlfriend and the four women were portrayed as nice innocent flowers. This adds more into the portrait of the cheating Neanderthal who is just all sex no heart.

The way women are portrayed has a lot to do with this as well. Sex sells so you see a lot of demeaning clips of women half naked drinking a beer or washing a car on television, billboards etc.. These stereotypes for single women leads others to believe that the average man in a relationship will go after one of these women.

I guess this is a dead drum I am beating. Infidelity in America alone is above 35%, but this number is not within men alone. So to automatically presume it is the man who is cheating is absurd. A lot of relationships are destroyed by this myth and men pushed into another lovers hands by a partner who doesn't trust him enough to love her and only her. To cheat on someone is completely inexcusable, but accusations of cheating when your partner is not is equal to or greater than cheating, if you partner is as loyal as a dog..
