Poetry: Mourning

by ElliotPhaber

Created on: July 24, 2009   Last Updated: April 05, 2010

When you walked out on me long ago,

I felt that life and living would never agree with me.

When you never returned, I felt so low.

I couldn't see and without you I couldn't be.

Fifteen years from that day, now I know sorrow.

I've had plenty of time to simmer in its pot.

I wish I could, but more time I cannot borrow.

Life right now is life how I couldn't have thought.

Won't you please return to me one day soon?

I promise that things will be much different now.

I promise that I'll no longer act like the biggest buffoon.

And never again as now will I beg or stoop so low.
